SYNODIDAE.
Trachinocephalus myops (Forster).
One example, 200 mm.
Saurida grandisquamis Günther, Gau2 Quân3 (Dog stick).
Three examples, 135 to 225 mm., in poor condition. These examples all show the pectoral less than the head without snout though much more than the postorbital part of the head and reaching the 11th to 13th scales of the lateral line.
HEMIRAMPHIDAE.
Hemiramphus quoyi Valenciennes.
Fourteen examples, 223 to 270 mm., in poor condition.
Known
by its robust body, ventral insertion midway between gill opening and caudal base and the lower jaw, as measured beyond the upper jaw tip, 7 to 11 times in rest of body.
Hemiramphus far (Forskal).
Three examples, 267 to 289 mm.
POLYNEMIDAE.
Polydactylus sextarius (Schneider).
Five examples, 127 to 133 mm., in poor preservation.
Galeoides sp. Wu, (Contrib. Biol. Lab. Sci. Soc. China, vol. 5, 4, 1929, p. 85, fig. 67) from Amoy is intended for the present species.

These examples appear to agree best with Weber and Beaufort's account of Mugil longimanus. All have long pectorals, reaching at least to the spinous dorsal origin or to the 12th or 13th lateral scale, spinous dorsal origin midway between snout tip and caudal base. A.III, 9. Scales 34 or 35 in median lateral series to caudal base.
